COD intelligence for Shopify

Stop shipping orders that come back.

CODIQ confirms every cash-on-delivery order on WhatsApp, scores each buyer's delivery risk, and runs the automations you choose. That cuts fake orders and RTO before the parcel ever leaves.

How it works

Every COD order runs through one intelligent flow

From the moment an order comes in until the parcel is delivered or returned, CODIQ decides what should happen next, within the rules you set.

  1. Order placed

A COD order arrives from your Shopify checkout.

  2. Risk scored

Several signals, including the cross-store network, produce a Low, Elevated or High band.

  3. Buyer confirms

A WhatsApp message asks the buyer to confirm or cancel, with reminders if they don't reply.

  4. Automations act

CODIQ holds, tags, cancels and restocks, or offers a discount to pay online first.

  5. Delivery tracked

Each parcel is followed through to delivered or returned, with no manual updates.

  6. Network learns

The delivery outcome sharpens the next buyer's score, in your store and across the network.

Risk scoring

Know which COD orders are risky before you ship

Every COD order gets a score and a band. The order page shows exactly which signals fired, so you're never guessing why an order was flagged.

Bands are advisory. CODIQ highlights risk, and nothing is cancelled unless you've set a rule for it.

SignalWhat it looks at
Network historyThis phone number's delivery record across participating stores
Your own historyPast declines or returns from this buyer at your store
BlocklistNumbers you've blocked, plus buyers added automatically after returns
Address qualityHow complete and plausible the delivery address is
Area return rateThe historical return rate for that delivery area
First-time high valueA large first order from an unknown buyer
Order velocitySeveral COD orders from one number within a day
Automations

Ready-made flows for every outcome

Switch on a recipe, adjust it to your store, and test it against a recent order before you enable it. You don't need to write any rules from scratch.

  • Trusted buyers: confirm repeat, reliable buyers without asking them
  • VIP: tag buyers with many orders or high spend
  • Pay online first: offer risky or blocklisted buyers a discount, or free delivery, to switch from COD to prepaid, with tiers by order value
  • Hold shipping: hold risky orders, and release them automatically when the buyer confirms
  • Review: send orders that get no reply to a "needs review" queue
  • Buyer says no: cancel and restock the moment the buyer declines
  • Delivered: mark COD orders paid when the parcel is delivered
  • Returned: restock, and optionally add the buyer to your blocklist
WhatsApp messages

Talk to buyers where they actually reply

Messages go out from your own WhatsApp Business number, using templates Meta has approved. Buyers can reply STOP at any time, and they won't be messaged again.

  • COD order confirmation with one-tap Confirm and Cancel buttons, and reminders if there's no reply
  • Order confirmed messages for prepaid orders too
  • Dispatch notices when the order ships
  • Review requests a few days after delivery
  • Abandoned checkout reminders, with an optional second reminder carrying a single-use discount code, and quiet hours in your store's time zone
At checkout

Control who can choose cash on delivery

CODIQ works inside Shopify's own checkout. It can hide or relabel the COD payment option for blocked buyers, so you're no longer offering cash on delivery to people who never pay for it.

  • Works on Shopify's native checkout, with no custom form or theme edits
  • Blocklist you build by hand, or that fills automatically after returns
  • Import your order history, including past RTOs, so scoring is useful from day one
Ads, data & reporting

Feed your ads real sales, not fake ones

A COD "purchase" that's later refused still trains your ad platform to find more buyers like that one. CODIQ only reports orders the buyer has confirmed.

  • Confirmed-order conversions sent server-side to Meta, Google, TikTok and Snapchat
  • Live Google Sheets sync: orders appear and update in your own spreadsheet
  • Dashboard: confirmation rate, orders held, return rates by area, and the RTO cost you avoided
  • Delivery tracking that records each parcel's outcome automatically
The shared network

One store sees a single order. The network sees the pattern.

Most buyers order from a store only once, so a single store's history can't tell you much about them. Across many stores, a buyer who keeps refusing deliveries becomes clear.

Opt-in and reciprocal

Turn it on to contribute outcomes and receive signals back. Turn it off and every other signal keeps working on your own data.

Counts, not people

Only delivery-outcome counts are shared, stored against a one-way fingerprint of the phone number. Names, addresses, order contents and store identities are never shared.

Fair by design

No signal is returned until a number has at least three orders across the network, so one bad delivery doesn't follow a buyer around. Erasure requests remove the buyer from the entire network.

FAQ

Questions merchants ask

What is RTO in e-commerce?

RTO (return to origin) is a parcel that could not be delivered and is shipped back to the merchant. On cash-on-delivery orders, the merchant pays shipping both ways and collects nothing. That makes RTO one of the biggest costs for COD stores in India, the Gulf, Pakistan and beyond.

How does CODIQ reduce RTO and fake COD orders?

It scores every COD order for delivery risk and asks the buyer to confirm on WhatsApp. Then it runs the automations you choose, such as holding shipping until the buyer confirms, offering a discount to pay online first, or cancelling and restocking when the buyer says no.

Does CODIQ cancel orders automatically?

Only if you set it to. Risk bands are advisory. CODIQ highlights risky orders, and you decide which automations run. Many merchants start by holding risky orders and releasing them when the buyer confirms.

Is buyer data shared between stores?

Only delivery-outcome counts, stored against a one-way fingerprint of the buyer's phone number, and only for stores that opt in to the network. Names, addresses, order contents and store identities are never shared, and the data is never sold or used for advertising.

Do I need the WhatsApp Business API?

Yes. CODIQ sends from your own WhatsApp Business number, which you connect from inside the app. Your message templates are submitted to Meta for approval, and they send once approved.

Does it work with Shopify's normal checkout?

Yes. CODIQ works with Shopify's native checkout. There's no custom order form, and you don't need to edit your theme.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free plan includes 60 WhatsApp messages a month, and order volume isn't limited. Paid plans have unlimited messages, add network signals, ad conversions and Google Sheets sync, and are billed through Shopify.
